Healthcare service investing has been a cornerstone of GTCR since the firm's founding in 1981. Over our history GTCR has invested in a number of facility-based service providers such as acute and speciality hospitals, clinical laboratories and institutional pharmacies. In addition, GTCR has also focused on niche managed care plans and providers who focus on overseeing the provision of high quality, efficient, lower cost services, such as Medicare Advantage plans and disease management.
“We have over 25 years of history of successfully investing in a full range of healthcare service companies led by proven management teams.” Joseph P. Nolan, Principal
GTCR's fundamental strategy in healthcare service investing has remained unchanged over the years: identify and partner with exceptional executives to build leading companies through acquisitions and internal growth. GTCR is actively in search of executives and leading companies in several broad healthcare service areas including facility-based providers, niche managed care services and healthcare technology services. GTCR also targets companies that provide value-additive services to the pharmaceutical market, such as specialty distribution, contract research, contract sales organizations, and contract manufacturing operations.
Select recent investments include HealthSpring, a leading medicare managed care organization; Capella Healthcare, an operator of community hospitals; and APS, a provider of disease management and behavioral health services.
